Abstract: |
Recent research on landscape has focused on the public's
mental health problems, aiming at promoting positive emotions
and improving mental health services in blue space. However, it
is still a challenge to investigate the impact from spatial features
on the public's emotion. This article focuses on the mitigation
effect of blue space on the emotional exhaustion and explores the
interconnection between waterfront's spatial organization, form
and riverbank, and public emotional type and intensity. First, social
media photos are used to extract the public's real-time emotional
reaction. Then the facial expression recognition technology is used
to quantify the public emotional positiveness, arousal, happiness,
surprise, and peace, and construct a public emotion map. Through
correlation and mediating effect analysis, the urban blue space
characteristics that affect public emotions are extracted, and the
guidelines to improve pleasure, awake enthusiasm, stimulate
resonance, and reduce vulnerability are sorted out. The results show
that the degree of hydrophilicity, aspect ratio and area can most
significantly mobilize emotional pleasure and resonance; the highly
hydrophilic interface with curved shoreline is most conducive to
activate emotional arousal; the space on the bridge is most effective
to reduce emotional vulnerability; the high-walkable and inclusive
waterfront space leads to positive emotions through the mediating
effect of physical activities. |
