Abstract: |
Tulipa gesneriana , a bulbous flower of the genus Tulipa within the
Liliaceae family, is hailed as the "Queen of the World's Flowers" due to its richly
diverse flower colors, large and magnificent flower shapes, and an air of noble
elegance. It boasts extremely high ornamental value. Globally, there are roughly
100 to 150 species of Tulipa plants, while the number of cultivated varieties
reaches into the thousands. Approximately 500 of these varieties are produced
on a large scale, with a total cultivation area of 13,000 hectares. In 1987, China
first imported 24 tulip varieties from the Netherlands for cultivation. Zhejiang
Province was among the earliest regions in China to introduce tulips, specifically in
Zhoushan. However, because of climatic and technical problems, the germplasm
of tulips has degenerated significantly. In recent years, numerous places in
Zhejiang Province have held tulip flower exhibitions in spring. Nevertheless, due to
factors such as climate and cost, most of the tulips in China are still imported from
the Netherlands. Thus, choosing appropriate tulip varieties is not only beneficial for
improving the ornamental appeal of flower exhibitions but also helps to extend the
duration of these events. Hangzhou Taiziwan Park initiated the cultivation of tulips
in 1993, and it now has a history of over 30 years. It is widely adored by both local
residents and tourists. During spring when the tulips are in full bloom, the park is
filled with a constant stream of visitors. To further enhance the ornamental value
and cultivation efficiency of tulips, this research selected 60 tulip varieties that have
been commonly cultivated in Taiziwan Park in previous years for experimentation.
Based on the group indicators, individual indicators, and cultivation conditions
of tulips, the aim is to screen out varieties with excellent traits and establish an
evaluation system for tulips that primarily focuses on their ornamental value.
Meanwhile, this project selected four different areas within the park to conduct
environmental factor experiments. Data such as daily air temperature, humidity,
and light intensity were recorded, and the impact of different environmental
factors on the flowering period of tulips was analyzed, with the expectation of
discovering the optimal environmental conditions for tulip cultivation. This project
has expanded the number of tulip varieties and samples for screening, selected
evaluation indicators that are more suitable for flower exhibition applications,
and, in combination with the actual cultivation situation of tulips in Taiziwan Park,
established an evaluation system applicable to the large-scale cultivation and
application of tulips in flower exhibitions. Fifteen excellent varieties have been
screened out, providing a reference for the selection of tulip varieties for flower
exhibitions in Hangzhou and its surrounding areas. In the future, the cultivation
area can be expanded in flower exhibition applications in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang-
Shanghai region. These tulip varieties include: Sanne, Caractere, White Dynasty,
Cabanna, Yume No Murasaki, Royal Ten, Peggy Wonder, Strong Gold, Oxford,
Suncatcher, White Flag, Super Model, Gorilla, Endurance, and Carola. Moreover,
this project analyzed the impact of light intensity and humidity on the flowering
periods of different tulip varieties, providing some references for the selection of
tulip varieties for cultivation in different environments and a basis for screening the
environmental conditions for large-scale cultivation and application of tulips. |
