Abstract: |
Urban areas with a dense population and concentrated
buildings often face difficulties in dealing with landscape
fragmentation and improving the ecological efficiency of green
space. Examining the potential of green space to have synergies
of multiple functions in densely populated area is now recognized
as a vital field of study. The objective of this study is to present an
in-depth assessment of green space by analyzing the interaction
between carbon sink, visual features, and ecological functions.
Taking high-density communities of Wuhan City as study cases, this
research samples 800 points and creates a 15-minute living circle
for each sampling point. It then uses computer vision to investigate
landscape visual features, assesses ecological functions using
multiple ecosystem services and landscape indexes, and assesses
carbon sink using corresponding measurement techniques. The study
discovers the synergistic effects of different functional combinations
by applying the method of Ecosystem Services Cluster (SOM). The
spatially-explicit findings show that there are four different types of
service clusters: clusters with abundant vegetation, clusters linking
carbon sink, clusters showing ecological coupling, and ecologically
vulnerable clusters. These findings offer insights for improving the
green spaces in densely populated areas. The suggested assessment
framework provides guidelines for optimizing the green spaces
in densely populated communities, therefore contributing to the
improvement of the quality of life of residents. |
