City Forest—Physical Strategies for Sound, Walking, and Listening |
YIN Yi |
Abstract: |
Auditory sense and walking are the most basic survival
techniques for human beings, and they are also the methods and
ways to perceive the environment. Since the 20th century, with
the continuous attention and research on sound, auditorysense,
and walking in the fields of art, literature, acoustic ecology, urban
geography, sound anthropology, and media studies, hearing and
walking have gradually become connected. Under the guise of
the image of "city rainforest", this article analyzes the differences
between sound walking and listening walking by comparing three
sound walking works with the author's experience, and proposes
a research shift from "sound-oriented" to "auditory-oriented". The
paper tries to analyze how sound, walking, and listening generate
new connections in the context of the city, how to give the body
and consciousness a new situation, and further think about the
possibility of individuals in the modern urban landscape in this
auditory situation. |
